Dear Superintendent O’Malley

          “I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of mind”, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This states that everybody has the freedom to do whatever they feel and think. Uniforms are a symbol of school spirit. They also allow a student to worry about work and not fashion. So should uniforms be used in all schools? Students shouldn’t have to wear uniforms to school every day. Uniforms hold someone back from showing their personality, having different styles in schools, and showing their creativity.

          First, people won’t be able to show their creativity with uniforms. If everyone wore uniforms then they would all look the same and not be able to tell how different people are that much. Also someone would have no clue o what type of person someone is because they look the same as others with different personalities. A personality may come from how you work but it mostly comes from what kind of person you are and how you show it. This clearly shows how not having the ability to show your personality is a bad thing to people.

          My next reason is that schools won’t be able to show different styles in uniforms. Everybody would have to have the same style if they are all wearing the same uniforms. They would also not be able to show how they are all unique individuals. A school with a lot of school spirit and a school that shows unity is great, but schools with different styles and in a way diverse is the school that is probably going to be more preferred. As you can see schools with different types of styles stand out next to ones with uniform.

          My last reason is that people won’t be able to show their creativity. People use creativity when they are choosing which clothes they want to wear and if you take that away from them they will be losing a chance to use their creativity. If people aren’t using creativity they might lose their creative mind and not show it when a time comes to use it. Even though they have to worry about work, they should still worry about creativity because it is a wonderful gift. It would be a real problem if you take away the creativity of a person.

          I conclusion, people should not have to wear uniforms to school. Uniforms prevent people from showing their personality, have different styles I school, and show their creativity. As you can see, uniforms would easily change schools and people I a negative way.

Reflecting on my commercial

             My commercial was about Pepsi.  I liked my commercial because we stated all facts and we said things that could persuade someone to buy it. Also we used different techniques like statistics and a celebrity appeal. Something we could have improved is talking with more enthusiasm and making the video longer. Next time id like to try using a coupon or some sort of sale in my commercial. I enjoyed trying to figure out ideas on how to present our commercial and be able to fit the facts that will hook the person to want to buy it. My goals for next time are to speak with more enthusiasm and play the part more. Also I want to extend the time more so it isnt just here is the commercial and done. I enjoyed doing this activity.

Tv station persuasion

          The product I am advertising is pepsi soda. To persuade the tv sation to use my commercial I would tell them that I dont need to be payed that much and that are commercial will not be a waste of time and we will make a lot of sales. I would also tell them that the commercial isnt that long so they can still fit in other commercials. Another thing i would tell them is that many people prefer this over others so it is sure that people will buy it instead. The last thing I would do is show them the commercial so they know how good it is or if it is bad then fix the mistakes and make it better.

Ad campaign

            I have seen many ads during 2011. My favorite one was during the superbowl and it was a commercial advertising a car from the company Volkswagen. A kid in a Darth Vader costume was trying to make things turn on and move by raising his hands like they do in the movie. Everytime he tries he fails and gets said. His dad gets home and the kid tries it on his car, which is from Volkswagen, and it turns on. It was really his dad using the keys to turn on the car so he would be happy. I thought this was funny because of the ending. They showed the car in a fnny way to advertise it. One thing I didnt like is that they did not advertise the car too much and it wouldnt hook people much if they dont know about it. This was though a pretty fun commercial.

The Career Unit

           The career unit was a lot of work and a lot of different things to learn. Not to mention that we had to write a lot of papers and fill out tons of research papers. We learned many things during this unit. I learned that when you grow up and go to college and get a job it isnt easy. To go to college you need a letter of recommendation and it can also be kind of tricky to pick a college that is right for you. When in college you have many responsibilities and it is up to you to make your years at college successful. When you are getting a job you will need a resume and you should be prepared to answer question about yourself and the job you are applying for. I have learned and experienced what it is like to go on a job interview and let me tell you, it isnt fun. Even though the career unit was a lot of work I still have learned some useful information about going into college and applying for a job.
