Homework is something not many kids like, but some people think more homework would be good for kids. Many kids are struggling and need the extra help, were as others are coming home with too much of it. Getting a good education is good and teachers are giving more homework so that kids can get that. Getting a good education can help you a lot in life, but too much homework is bad for kids.
The first reason kids should have less homework is because of family time. Kids are not spending enough time with their families because they are stuck doing homework. Spending time with your family brings you close together. Not spending time with your family is bad because it will feel like you are left out of your family.
The next reason kids should have less homework is because kids are staying up too late. Too much homework is causing kids to stay up all night doing it. Kids also can wake up late and it will cause them to get sleepy during their morning class. Sleep is very important for kids too get and they need to get a good amount of it but cannot get any if they are doing homework.
The last reason kids should have less homework is because it is too hard. Too much homework can also be too hard and that is a reason kids spend so much time on it and are not doing well. Some kids don’t even do their homework because there is too much and that can cause their grade to drop. Kids should not just hand in blank papers or incomplete papers and they should get the extra help.
As students progress through their education they encounter more work. This requires more work than previous skills. Homework has gotten harder and it is becoming a bad thing for students. Students are not receiving enough family time and families are not becoming more close together. Staying up all night is becoming another bad thing because kids aren’t meeting the amount of sleep they should. Too much homework is also too hard and that is causing students grade levels to drop. Homework is important for kids, but too much homework can be a problem.

Artificial trees for Christmas

It is almost Christmas and that means putting up the Christmas decorations. One thing some people do is buy Christmas trees that are either artificial or real. I think people should buy artificial trees because they are less work than real ones. Real trees fall apart and you don't get to keep them for long, were as artificial trees don't make a mess and you can keep them for a really long time. Also all you have to do with artificial trees are put them together and then decorate, but if you had a real tree you would have to water it every once and a while. Another reason is a real tree might be too big and not fit perfectly were you want, but if you got an artificial tree you could get it at a smaller size that would fit were you want it.As you can see, real trees are more work compared to an artificial tree. So what will you choose, real or artificial?

Christmas wish

It is almost Christmas and you are the one who brings presents to all the good children. This year when I wake up Christmas morning, I would hope to find a brand new laptop under my tree. This will be a really useful item and not just for playing games, but for school too.

Currently, I have an old computer in my room. It is old and very slow so it is not the best computer in the world. I want a new laptop to replace the old one I have . I use the computer to do homework and do research for my projects, but sometimes it takes a long time to load something. If I had a laptop it would be much easier to do my work that is on the computer. Also, if I had a new laptop I could make my work look better than it would on an old computer.

I am in middle school right now and we do harder work and we do more work that involves the computer. I deserve a laptop because I would get better grades and I would improve my skills with a computer. Another reason is because I would not just be using it for playing games, but I would be using it for more important things like homework and projects.

I believe I will really benefit in my work if I got a laptop. So if you got this for me I my work would be better and I would get better grades. I hope you are able to give me a laptop so I do not have keep using the old and slow computer I currently own.

Sincerely,
Cesare Sanchez

Thanksgiving History

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. You eat as much turkey you can eat and you give thanks to all the things you have, but do you know the history of thanksgiving? In 1620 the pilgrims sailed from England to America aboard the Mayflower. They set ground at Plymouth rock. Thats when they met the Wampanoag indians. The indians helped them survive their first year. The harvest of 1621 was a bountiful one and they decided to celebrate with a feast. There was 54 pilgrims and 91 indians at the feast. That lasted 3 days and it was a time were they gave thanks for all the indians help and that they are able to have that wonderful feast. It was not until 1863 that president Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a national holiday each November.

Things i am grateful for

Cesare Sanchez

I am grateful for a lot of things. One thing I am grateful for is my family. They are the ones who care for me . They also help me through hard times. They are also the ones who protect me and keep me safe. Another thing I am grateful for is my friends. They are always with me and always help me when I need it. Friends are also always making me feel good and not putting me down. Those are the things I am grateful for.

Trick or Treating

Trick or treating is the best part of halloween. You get candy for free just by knocking on someones door. I don't know about you, but I think getting candy for free is awesome. On halloween I like wearing a scary costume when I go trick or treating. When I go trick or treating I make sure I get every single house at my block. Also when I go trick or treating we usually drive down where my grandparents live and trick or treat there for a while. I like to trick or treat with my friends so it makes it more fun. My favorite houses to visit are the ones that give out the big candy bars. Usually after trick or treating I fill my bag about three quarters and sometimes I even fill it all the way to the top. So I think think that getting free candy on halloween is a great idea.

Satire of my life

I think small lockers are the worst thing in the world. You can't fit all your things in the lockers and you have to squeeze all your things in them. Alomost everybody else has a big locker except us. Why didn't they just make all the lockers big so we wouldn't have to go through all this pain? All i'm saying is small lockers were a bad idea.

Honoring Those Who Protect Us

Patriotism still matters because without our soldiers protecting us we wouldn’t have the all the rights we have today. We should honor the soldiers who risk their lives to save ours, and the soldiers who died protecting us. Where would this country be if there were no soldiers fighting for our freedom. We would probably be ruled by another country. When I see the American flag I think about all those soldiers out there fighting for our freedom, and putting their lives on the line to keep us safe and get us all the freedom we have. I am thankful for all the sacrifices the soldiers made and being able to have a good education, having a nice home, and even having a good meal each day. Those are the things soldiers are helping us get when they fight for our freedom.
A special holiday when we honor our soldiers is on November 11th. That special holiday is Veteran’s. It is special because on that day we honor all the sacrifises the soldiers made to keep us safe, and we honor all the soldiers who have sadly died trying to protect our country. So even if you don’t know anybody who was out there fighting for our freedom you should still honor those soldiers that have fought in war protecting our country.
So if you think patriotism dosen’t matter, then you should rethink what your saying. You should think about all the rights you have like living in a safe home, having nice clothes, being able to go to school. These are all the things the soldiers are fighting for and risking their lives for. So the next time you ask yourself , does patriotism still matter? Think about all the soldiers and all the rights you have because of them.

Ralph Fletchers writing

In his vignette," Baseball", he states, "As the ball rolled through the grass, it picked up pollen, which got on my hands when I picked it up, which got in my eyes when I touched them, which made them start to itch."I liked this because he goes through the steps on how the pollen gets into his eyes instead of just saying I got pollen in my eyes and it itched. He also used great detail to explain the process.

In his vignette," Last Kiss", he states "Fireflies were out, floating on the evening breeze. They made me think of jellyfish dad and I saw one night about a year before when we were at a dock at the beach. I noticed lights flickering in the dark water and was amazed to find out that they were living animals." I like how Ralph Fletcher relates the flickering light on a firefly to the flickering light on a jellyfish he saw one night. I also like how he described the time he he saw the jellyfish and how he wrote dark water instead of just water.

My piece of blanket

My piece of blanket reminds me of when I was a baby and how long I had it. I always used to take every were I went, I would never leave without it. My mom got it for me when I was about two or three and I loved it. When I was little the blanket was a whole but it got so old and worn out that it went in pieces and my mom saved this one and its the only piece I have left of it. Also when I went to preschool even though I wasn't aloud to bring it to school I would keep it in my backpack because I never wanted to leave it, and I always had to have it at all times.

6th Grade Goals

While i'm in sixth grade I am going to have to set goals for myself so I can work hard to acheive those goals. One of my goals for sixth grade is to get all A's in my classes so I can make the honor rolls in my classes for seventh grade. Another goal for sixth grade is not to be late for class three times or else I would get a detention. Not missing any homework is another goal I would like to acheive for sixth grade. My fourth and final goal is to make a lot of new friends during my first year in middle school.

Herbert Hoover Middle School

Coming into middle school meant that I was getting older and I was going to make new friends. Herbert Hoover Middle School was like three times bigger than Elementary school. The cafeteria is way bigger and has so many better foods than Elementary. The gym in Herbert Hoover Middle School is four times bigger than Elementary school so we will be doing more activities in gym. In Herbert Hoover the teachers are very nice and helpful, they help us if we are having trouble with our lockers, finding classes, and other problems. I think it will be a fun year at Herbert Hoover Middle School.
